Let’s face it—food and wine are a dynamic duo. Like peanut butter and jelly, Batman…
Women’s History Month
We all appreciate the work of stars to some degree, the front-end of business, whether they are celebrities, charismatic business leaders, academic icons, or like me, just a namesake and chef who creates the meals and get the rich reward of interacting with the guests, but much of the accomplishments we are known for are driven by backstage support, ensuring ‘all the things’ are done, and done well.
In observance of Women’s History Month, I would like to celebrate my quiet strength who works behind the scenes, my partner and wife, Deborah Pierrel. She is our ace in the hole and visionary who works diligently to ensure the success of Freddie’s Kitchen at the Cole. From her initial inspiration and vision, finding a location and making it happen, to her ongoing roles as both CFO and CMO – she is the entrepreneurial glue that ensures we stay operational.
Deb said we should do something to honor women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. I have heard her speak proudly about the challenges women have had to overcome: to vote, equal pay, to voice opinions and be respected, sharing how she has been the beneficiary of her forewomen. I agree the strife and strides of woman throughout history have been altering and would like to proclaim that she is one of those women too, making life a little better for those who will follow. She is kindly tenacious and brings a strength in business that is deserving of illumination – even if it is behind the scenes. Thank you, Deb.
